maura-best4Whether it’s lifestyle hosting or sports reporting, Maura Driscoll usually has the best seat in the house.  Her versatility as a broadcaster is evidenced by her many different hosting roles; and the quality of her work in all categories has been recognized and honored.  The winner of two Gracie Allen Awards and a Women’s Sports Foundation Award for excellence in sports reporting, Maura is also honored as one of the 100 Significant UCLA Alumni.  She has had on-air roles with NBC, ESPN, Lifetime Television, USA Network, Versus, iVillage and Fox SportsNet.  She has served as a corporate spokesperson and on-air host for clients such as Gillette, Citibank, Comcast, Liberty Mutual, Ethan Allen, United Airlines, Staples and more.  She has appeared in National TV Commercials and lent her voice to many national radio spots.

Maura has been connected to elite athletics her entire life.  Whether it be as a competitor or a sports broadcaster, her passion and skills have always set her apart.  As a former elite gymnast, she traveled the world representing the United States in a sport known for its precision and intensity.  At the age of 12, Maura was one of only 15 gymnasts chosen from the U.S. to train at one of the premier elite gymnastics centers in the country (Grossfeld’s American Gold Gymnastics Club).  She represented the United States in many international competitions, and went on to captain the powerful UCLA Women’s Gymnastics Scan001Team.  She graduated from UCLA cum laude with a degree in Communication Studies.  Upon graduation, Maura began working as an analyst for women’s gymnastics for ESPN, Prime Sports and Fox SportsNet.  In addition, she served as a feature reporter for Prime Sports’ nightly sports news show, “Press Box”, while also working as a sideline reporter for various sports for the regional sports network.

With the debut of the WNBA (Women’s National Basketball Association) in 1997, Maura landed a national role as halftime host and sideline reporter for Lifetime Television’s coverage of weekly WNBA games.  She soon became the face of Lifetime Sports covering such sports as golf, ice hockey, college basketball, synchronized skating, triathlon and more.  During her five years at Lifetime, she also hosted a sports documentary series entitled “Breaking Through”.  Her work on this series earned her a “Gracie Allen Award” and a Women’s Sports Foundation Award for excellence in sports reporting in 1999 and 2000, respectively.

When Lifetime got out of the women’s sports game, Maura continued her work in sports television, but also expanded her hosting duties to include health and wellness programming, web programming, sales and training videos, corporate video work and commercial television.  Since 2002, she has hosted numerous shows and segments for the Newborn Channel which air in hospitals nationwide.  She earned her second “Gracie Allen Award” in 2003 for a series on that network entitled “Newborn Woman”.   Driscoll continues to host several shows that air on the Newborn Channel  (Formerly Owned By NBC/iVillage Now Owned By Interactivation Media)  including “The Johnson’s Baby Hour”, “ParentSoup, “Newborn Woman”, “World of Parenting”, “Patient Safety”, “Back In Shape” and many more.

queen-mauraWhile an undergraduate at UCLA, a school with over 22,000 students, Maura was honored as the 1988-89 Homecoming Queen.  Students are anonymously nominated, must possess a GPA of 3.5 or above, be involved in extra-curricular activities and charitable causes, and they must progress through a series of interviews.  As UCLA Homecoming Queen, Maura served as a school representative at events throughout the country including the 1989 Cotton Bowl Parade and the Cotton Bowl football game between UCLA and Arkansas.  She continues to be called on to represent UCLA as a spokesperson because of her success as a student-athlete and a leader among her peers.
